Scientific Skills is a course for first year EEB graduate students to provide them with training in skills critical to their graduate and post-graduate professional development. The course is taught by Mark Carr. Topics covered by the course include the writing of grant proposals, teaching skills, scientific communication, working with course and lab web sites, and scientific ethics.
Over the quarter, students produce one grant proposal in the format of an NSF Graduate Fellowship or an EPA Star Fellowship proposal. They work on the development of a course or lab web site, and give presentations on their proposed research and web sites.
